The GAIN – Short Screener (GAIN-SS) is a self-administered screener to quickly identify those who have a behavioral health disorder, and triage the problem and kind of intervention they are likely to need along four dimensions (internalizing disorders, externalizing disorders, substance disorders, and crime/violence). The GAIN-SS consists of 20 questions, takes about five minutes to complete and is a useful measure for monitoring behavioral health over time. It can be used on adolescents as young as 10 and on adults.
