Alcohol Use Disorders Identification Test (AUDIT)

The AUDIT (Alcohol Use Disorders Identification Test) is a simple, effective method of screening for unhealthy alcohol use, to help identify alcohol dependence and specific consequences of harmful drinking. AUDIT was designed for use by healthcare practitioners in a range of health settings, but with suitable instructions it can be self-administered or used by non-health professionals. AUDIT has been validated across various demographics and is suitable for use in primary care settings. The screening tool consists of 10 questions and assesses alcohol consumption, drinking behaviours, and alcohol-related problems. The tool also provides directive care for intervention to help respondents with signs of alcohol abuse to reduce or cease alcohol consumption.
